THE
HUMANITY-AMAZINGNESS-REMINDER
We glance at a watch to reassure our position in time and space.
What if, at the same glance, we could reassure ourselves that we are capable of achieving the impossible?
THE STORY
The story of SVPER11 watch started in 2016, exactly on November 14th - which was the night of the largest Supermoon in 70 years.
Supermoon sparked the idea of an object, that would celebrate one of the most amazing achievement of us as humanity: The NASA Apollo11 Moon Landing Mission.
We wanted to create something, that you could always have with you and it would remind you that...
OH MY GOD!
We've actually went to the Moon!
THAT'S HOW SVPER11 WAS BORN
A wristwatch is an object with long life span. It can be passed down to the next generations, it can have a very personal meaning.
It felt just right, that our humanity-amazingness-reminder would take shape of a watch, so we can celebrate Moon Landing in such timeless object.
IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS...
The SVPER11 watch is packed with references to the Moon Landing Mission.
Every element comes with a story.
To make geeking-out if front of your friends easier,
let us walk you through all of them here...
THE DIAL
0.67408° N | 23.47297° E
The above coordinates are marking the exact spot, where Apollo11 landed.
The area of the Moon known as Mare Tranquillitatis - The Sea of Tranquility.
THE PROCESS
The high fidelity NASA maps of the moon served as a base to create
a 3D topographic surface that we're using as a face of the watch.
300 TONS
That's the pressure applied multiple times to the brass disc
that becomes the dial.
Each layer is only 0.1mm thin. To be sure that the execution is flawless and every nano-meter is replicated properly we're taking no compromises in the production process.
THE CROWN
THINK SPACESUIT
The crown of the watch is modelled after the oxygen valves from the front
of the Apollo 11 spacesuit.
3D scanned models of the original spacesuit
served as a base for the design.
THE GLASS DOME
BEST COMBINATION
We've covered mineral glass with a layer of Sapphire and additional anti-reflective coating.
The shape of the dome flows smoothly with the curvature of the case. It makes for minimalist, slick and modern look.
LOW GRAVITY
We've transferred the hours and minutes marks directly onto the glass. This makes them appear to float above the dial.
THE MOVEMENT
MADE IN JAPAN
We've decided to use SEIKO Japanese movement - VH31.
It's quite unique as it allows the second hand to beat
4 times per second.
This allowed us to achieve another important
element of our vision (read on)...
TIC TIC TIC TOK!
0.30μN∙m
VH31 is a High Torque mechanism. This means, that it beats 4 times per second, giving an impression of smooth,
radar-like movement.
Thanks to that, the watch looks like a radar, constantly marking the location of the moon landing.
THE CASE
316L STAINLESS STEEL
We’ve spent lot of time perfecting the curvature of the case.
The steel mono-block design is minimalistic and modern.
THE CASEBACK
TECHNICAL CERAMIC
The back cover is made out of technical ceramic that adds almost glowing quality to the surface.
OCTAGON FORMATION
Caseback is precisely mounted and secured on the case
with 8 ø2mm screws.
1969
We've mentioned the Apollo Lunar Missions in a very special way. The caseback featured embossed name of the program and the year of successful Moon landing.
It's our way of paying tribute to all of the people who made the Moon landing a reality.
THE STRAP
